Sometimes I chance across a one off item from sumo history and have to snap it up.
This is the hand written record of Izutsu heya rikishi performances for the March 1959 basho. This is a pretty unique era with lower divisions fighting over 8 days not 7. This item is 65 years old.
The nice thing about this piece is it was never intended to survive this long. The Oyakata or Manager has written it to record the rikishi performances for a single basho. It has multiple pages glued together, with some records glued on top of others.
Each rikishi in the heya has their score handwritten and a purple or red stamp to signify a losing or wining record.
